Wow! We had a fabulous reading event this morning at Kennedy Elementary. Our students in grades 2 - 5 (and a few kindergarten and 1st grade) read an excerpt from Charlotte's Web along with 500,000 other readers around the world! This was an attempt to break the Guinness World Record, MOST PEOPLE READING SIMULTANEOUSLY IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS. More information about this attempt can be found at http://www.charlotteswebbarr.com/.
The students were so excited and students that do not read much of anything were reading this excerpt. They even practiced on their own time.
Also, we received 18 paperback copies of Charlottes Web. We gave these books to the students by randomly drawing names.
This reading event will be remembered by all who participated from a long time!

We have a book in the library with the title, "The Transmogrification of Roscoe Wizzle". I enjoyed the book and recommend it to many readers. However, I enjoy saying that word, TRANSMOGRIFICATION. It rolls off your tongue and it is a looooong word. It means to change into a different form. In Roscoe's case, he was changing into a bug.
